The Boston College Eagles and the Miami Hurricanes meet Thursday in ACC Tournament college basketball action from Barclays Center. Boston College is sitting at 13-19 overall and coming off a Wednesday tourney win over Wake Forest. As for Miami, they’re sitting at 22-9 this year and beat Syracuse in their last outing. The Eagles started out the year at a reasonable 6-3, but won just three games between December 3 and February 21. Following a recent three-game losing streak, Boston College has now managed consecutive tournament wins over Pitt and Wake Forest.
In the Wednesday tournament game versus Wake Forest, Boston College kept the pace the whole way and needed overtime to power through a nice 82-77 victory. Tops in scoring during the win was DeMarr Langford with 19 points and four boards.
Over on the Miami side, they’ve only lost consecutive games once this year so they’ve stayed very consistent overall. The Hurricanes last lost to Virginia Tech, and since then they’ve taken out Boston College and Syracuse in the last pair.
On Saturday versus Syracuse, Miami got off to a slow start with just 26 first-half points. The Hurricanes turned it on with a 49-35 run from there in a 75-72 comeback win. Tops in scoring was Jordan Miller with 25 points and 13 boards.
PICK: I’m probably just going to stay with Miami here. The Hurricanes have been on a good scoring run lately, with 70 or more points in eight straight games. Miami has one or two dud losses this year, but overall they’ve stayed competitive in the vast majority of games.
As for Boston College, they took an 81-70 home loss the last time these teams met up back on March 2. The Eagles have a couple of impressive tournament wins in the bag, but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep it going against the Hurricanes.
