The Indiana Hoosiers & Michigan Wolverines will square off at Gainbridge Fieldhouse this Thursday morning in the 2nd round of the Big Ten Tournament.

The Indiana Hoosiers finished their regular season with an overall record of 18-12 and earned the 9-seed in the Big Ten Tournament after finishing conference play with a 9-11 record. Indiana finished their non-conference portion of their schedule with a 9-1 record with statement wins over St. John’s & Notre Dame. Indiana started conference play with a 7-4 record which included wins over both Ohio State & Purdue, however, the Hoosiers struggled during the 2nd half of their season and come into this Big Ten Tournament losing 7 of their last 9 games.

On the season, Indiana is averaging 71.4 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Hoosiers are averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Indiana has been led by Trayce Jackson-Davis (17.4 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.9 apg, 2.4 bpg), Race Thompson (11.8 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.1 spg), Xavier Johnson (11.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.2 spg), & Parker Stewart (6.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Indiana is holding their opponents to an average of 65.5 ppg on 39.0% shooting from the field. The Hoosiers have a rebound margin of 3.0 and are averaging 5.7 steals per game.

The Michigan Wolverines finished their regular season with an overall record of 17-13 and earned the 8-seed in the Big Ten Tournament after finishing conference play with a 11-9 record. Michigan finished their non-conference portion of their schedule with a 6-4 record with their best wins coming against UNLV & San Diego State. Michigan struggled stringing wins together throughout conference play, however, the Wolverines played better towards the end of the regular season as they have won 3 of their last 5 games with quality wins over Michigan State & Ohio State.

On the season, Michigan is averaging 73.2 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Wolverines are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Michigan has been led by Hunter Dickinson (18.4 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.5 bpg), Eli Brooks (12.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.1 spg), Caleb Houstan (10.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.4 apg), DeVante’ Jones (10.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 4.7 apg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Michigan is allowing their opponents to average 69.7 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Wolverines have a rebound margin of 5.6 and a turnover margin of -1.5.

The Hoosiers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games, however, are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Wolverines are 47-19-3 ATS in their last 69 Thursday games & 35-15-2 ATS in their last 52 neutral site games.

Michigan defeated Indiana in their only matchup of the regular season as the Wolverines defeated Indiana by an 80-62 margin at home in late January.

Indiana was solid this season defensively, ranking 66th in scoring defense & 16th in defensive FG%, however, the Hoosiers defense struggled down the stretch as over their last 9 games, Indiana allowed their opponents to average 71.2 ppg. Michigan has been led by their offense, which ranks 127th in scoring offense & 37th in FG%, and as I expect the Wolverines to once against have plenty of success on the offensive end against Indiana in this one, I’m taking Michigan to cover this small spread. Good Luck!
