The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Toledo Rockets meet Thursday in MAC Tournament college basketball action from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Central Michigan is sitting at 7-22 so far this year. The Chippewas lost to Akron in their last game. As for Toledo, they’re currently 25-6 and coming off a win over Bowling Green. Central Michigan had a solid 4-1 run going back in early February, but they’ve been unable to win consecutive games this season outside of that. The Chippewas have lost three straight to Kent State, Miami OH and Akron.

On Friday versus Akron, the Chippewas held a 25-22 lead by halftime. Central Michigan was outscored 31-35 the rest of the way during a 57-56 loss. Tops in scoring was Harrison Henderson with 17 points and five boards.

Over on the Toledo side, they’ve bounced back from adversity well this year and haven’t lost consecutive games yet. The Rockets have beaten Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Miami OH, Buffalo and Bowling Green over the last quintet.

Last Friday versus Bowling Green, the Rockets hit a 47-28 pace in the first half. Toledo kept it up with a 49-28 second in a 96-56 blowout victory. JT Shumate finished with 22 points, six rebounds and three assists to lead the way.

The Rockets are 42-20-1 ATS in the last 63 after an ATS win and 42-17-1 ATS in their last 60 overall. The over is 8-2 in Toledo’s last 10 after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Chippewas are 4-0 ATS in their last four Thursday games and the under is 5-2 in their last seven overall. The under is 5-2 in the Chippewas’ last seven Thursday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Toledo. The line is probably too thick to mess with, though. The Rockets are on a roll right now; they’ve hit 88 or more points in four straight games and generally score very well this year. Interestingly enough though, Toledo won by just two points (68-66) the last time these teams met up back on February 19. It was a down game for the Rockets scoring-wise, and I think they’ll bounce back with a dominant performance here.
