The Wyoming Cowboys and the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels meet Thursday in Mountain West Tournament college basketball action from Thomas & Mack Center. Wyoming is 24-7 on the year so far. The Cowboys beat Fresno State in their last game. As for UNLV, they’re sitting at 18-13 and coming off a loss to New Mexico. Wyoming posted a smooth 21-3 run through their first 24 games this year, but they haven’t managed consecutive wins since then. The Cowboys lost to San Diego State and UNLV before picking up their latest win over Fresno State.

On Saturday in the Fresno State game, the Cowboys had a 32-28 halftime lead but needed overtime to decide the game. Wyoming hit 11 points in the extra period in a 68-64 win. Xavier DuSell was the top scorer on 21 points and five boards.

Over on the UNLV side, their year started out at a shaky 4-5. The Rebels haven’t lost consecutive games since then, though. UNLV is 1-2 in their last three games, beating Wyoming between losses to Boise State and New Mexico.

Matched up against New Mexico back on Saturday, the Rebels were drilled 22-38 in the first half alone. UNLV got better with 45 second-half points but still lost 76-67. Bryce Hamilton led the team on his 28 points and four rebounds.

Wyoming is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 neutral-site games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Thursday games. The Cowboys are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.

Meanwhile, the Rebels are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 neutral-site games and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven Thursday games. UNLV is 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall.

PICK: I’m going to try UNLV here. The Rebels haven’t exactly been dominant over their last three games, but the lone win in that time came 64-57 over Wyoming on March 2. Outside of that UNLV has been quite spotty lately, and they’ve been below 72 points in five of their last seven outings.

As for Wyoming, they haven’t been scoring great lately themselves but do get some credit for the overtime win over Fresno State. This matchup should be a pretty tight one, but I’m leaning slightly toward the Rebels on a cover/win.
