The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Sunday in Big Ten Tournament college basketball action from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Iowa is 25-9 overall this year. The Hawkeyes beat Indiana in their tournament game Saturday. As for Purdue, they’re 26-6 right now and beat Michigan State in their Saturday tourney matchup. Iowa had a three-game losing streak in December and a 1-3 stretch back in January but otherwise they’ve been a highly consistent team this season. The Hawkeyes are currently on a three-game win streak, taking out Northwestern, Rutgers and Indiana along the way.

In the Saturday tournament matchup versus Indiana, the Hawkeyes were down 32-38 at the break. Iowa surged on a 48-39 run in the second half and took the comeback win 80-77. Keegan Murray led the team on 32 points and nine boards, while Patrick McCaffery added 16 points.

Over on the Purdue side, they’ve been very consistent themselves this season. The Boilermakers have only lost consecutive games once (to Michigan State and Wisconsin). Since then, Purdue has won three straight over Indiana, Penn State and Michigan State.

In Saturday’s tourney game against Michigan State, Purdue took a 27-20 lead out of halftime. The Boilermakers were outscored 48-50 in the second but hung on for the win 75-70. Tops in scoring during the victory was Jaden Ivey with 22 points and nine rebounds in 36 minutes of work.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Iowa here. The Hawkeyes have been on a great run in tournament action so far. They’ve hit 80 or more points in each of the three games. Iowa has been very sharp against tough Big Ten competition lately as well; none of their last three losses were by more than five points.

As for Purdue, they’re looking pretty good over their last three games despite a close finish or two. The Boilermakers won both matchups with Iowa this year as well, 77-70 on December 3 and 83-73 on January 27. Purdue has had some tight matchups over the last month though, and if Iowa is on point I think they can power out a win/cover. Should be a fun game.
