The St. Bonaventure Bonnies will travel to the Lloyd Noble Center to take on the 1-seed Oklahoma Sooners this Sunday night in College Basketball action.

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies improved to 21-9 on the season after defeating the 4-seed Colorado Buffaloes, 76-68, this past Tuesday. St. Bonaventure trailed by a 39-36 margin at halftime, however, the Bonnies were outstanding on the defensive end in the 2nd half against Colorado and pulled away late after closing out the final 2:25 of regulation on an 8-0 run. St. Bonaventure shot 52.7% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Colorado to shoot 43.1% from the field & 28.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bonnies was Osun Osunniyi who had a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, & 4 blocks.

On the season, St. Bonaventure is averaging 70.3 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Bonnies are averaging 5.9 three-pointers per game on 32.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, St. Bonaventure has been led by Jalen Adaway (16.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.0 apg), Jaren Holmes (13.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.1 spg), Kyle Lofton (12.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.8 apg, 2.1 spg), Dominick Welch (12.0 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.3 spg), & Osun Osunniyi (11.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 3.0 bpg).

Defensively, St. Bonaventure is holding their opponents an average of 66.4 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Bonnies have a rebound margin of 0.4 and a turnover margin of 2.3.

The 1-seed Oklahoma Sooners improved to 19-15 on the season after defeating the Missouri State Bears, 89-72, this past Tuesday. Oklahoma was outstanding on the offensive end against Missouri State and had no trouble pulling away after taking a 76-58 lead midway through the 2nd half. Oklahoma shot 50.0% from the field & 48.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Missouri State to shoot 40.6% from the field & 37.5% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Sooners was Umoja Gibson who had 28 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, & 3 steals.

On the season, Oklahoma is averaging 69.1 ppg on 47.6% shooting from the field. The Sooners are averaging 7.5 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oklahoma has been led by Umoja Gibson (12.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.4 spg), Tanner Groves (11.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.6 apg), Jordan Goldwire (10.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.5 spg), & Elijah Harkless (10.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.3 spg).

St. Bonaventure has been led by their defense which ranks 89th in scoring defense & 51st in turnover margin, however, the Bonnies have struggled at times to put points up on the scoreboard as they come into this game ranked 199th in scoring offense & t-301st in three-pointers made per game. Oklahoma, despite ranking just 224th in scoring offense, has shot the ball well, ranking 25th in FG% while also being solid defensively, ranking 46th in scoring defense.

Oklahoma is a tough team to face on their home court, however, St. Bonaventure has a talented starting five and is coming off an impressive win at Colorado. I expect the Bonnies to keep this a competitive game and that St. Bonaventure will do enough with the points to get us a cover. Good Luck!
