Coastal Carolina vs Florida Gulf Coast 3/21/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers meet Monday in college basketball action from the HTC Center at the Basketball Classic. Florida Gulf Coast is 22-11 this year. The Eagles beat Detroit Mercy in their last game. As for Coastal Carolina, they’re 17-13 so far and coming off a win over MD-Eastern Shore. Florida Gulf Coast had one extended stretch of spotty games this year: a 3-6 run back in January. Since February began, the Eagles have only lost twice to North Florida and Bellarmine. FGCU managed a first-round win over Detroit Mercy in the Basketball Classic as well. 

In the matchup versus the Titans back on Wednesday, Florida Gulf Coast carried a slim 49-48 lead into the break. The Eagles hit a 46-31 run in the second half for a 95-79 victory. Leading the way in scoring was Tavian Dunn-Martin with 33 points and six assists. 

Over on the Coastal Carolina side, they’ve had a few solid runs of games this season but haven’t been able to sustain winning stretches for very long. The Chanticleers fell to Georgia Southern in the conference tournament, then managed a first-round win over MD-Eastern Shore in the Basketball Classic. 

Matched up against MD-Eastern Shore on Wednesday, the Chanticleers were up by seven going into the second half. Coastal hit a 39-22 run from there in a 66-42 win. Rudi Williams scored 18 points to lead the team, and Vince Cole added 15 points with four boards. 

The Chanticleers are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Coastal is 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games and 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 after an ATS win. The over is 8-3 in FGCU’s last 11 road games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Florida Gulf Coast here. The Eagles had a tough game against Bellarmine back on March 3, however they’ve scored quite well in several victories lately. FGCU has hit 76 or more points in four of their last five games and should be able to put up a decent total here as well. 

As for Coastal Carolina, they’ve hit 68 or more points in three of their last five games but they’ve also got some recent scoring duds on the scheudule. If Florida Gulf Coast can get off to a good start here, I can see them powering out a cover pace. Should be a fun game regardless.
