Arkansas vs UNC Asheville 12/21/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UNC Asheville Bulldogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Bud Walton Arena. UNC Asheville is currently 8-4 overall and coming off a win over East Tennessee State. As for the Razorbacks, they’re 10-1 so far. Arkansas beat Bradley in their last outing on Saturday. UNC Asheville managed a 4-2 run over their first six games this year, losing to Eastern Kentucky and Georgia State. The Bulldogs are 4-2 since then, beating TN-Martin, Warren Wilson, SC State and East Tennessee State. 

Back on Saturday versus East Tennessee State, the Bulldogs had their hands full. UNC Asheville was outscored by three in the second half but hung on for the 74-73 win. Jamon Battle led the way on 21 points with six boards. 

Over on the Arkansas side, they’ve got one loss to Creighton so far. Otherwise it’s been wins over North Dakota State, Fordham, South Dakota State, Louisville, San Diego State, Troy, San Jose State, UNCG, Oklahoma and Bradley. 

Matched up against Bradley on Saturday, the Razorbacks jumped out to a 37-25 halftime lead. Arkansas posted a 39-32 edge in the second half for a 76-57 win. Jordan Walsh led the team with his 18 points and three rebounds. 

PICK: I might take a stab on UNC Asheville here. The Bulldogs have been a sneaky-good team so far; they’ve been very effective in the right matchups. UNC Asheville has scored 74 or more points in four of their last five games and may be able to eke out a garbage-time cover in this one. As for Arkansas, they continue to roll along without too much difficulty. The Razorbacks have hit 71 or more points in 10 of their 11 games so far this year and will likely roll in this one. That said, if UNC Asheville finishes strong I think they can get into a cover.
