The Brown Bears and the Bryant Bulldogs meet Friday in college basketball action from Chace Athletic Center. Brown enters this matchup at 3-4 overall. The Bears are coming off a win over Central CT State. As for Bryant, they’re sitting at 6-1 after beating Framingham State on Monday. Brown lost their first three outings of the year to Vermont, Colgate and Loyola MD. The Bears took their first win in game four over Stony Brook, then lost to UMass Lowell. Game six was another win, this time over Maine.

In Tuesday’s matchup versus Central CT State, Brown posted a 34-25 edge by halftime. The Bears scored another 25 points from there and hung on for the 59-51 win. Kino Lilly posted 16 points with two rebounds to lead the team.

Over on the Bryant side, they managed wins over Thomas (ME) and Dartmouth in their first pair. The Bulldogs took a loss to Florida Atlantic, then bounced back with wins over FIU, Detroit and Syracuse.

Back on Monday versus Framingham State, Bryant jumped out to a 46-20 lead by halftime. The Bulldogs kept it up with a 52-24 second half in a 98-44 win. Antwan Walker led the way on 19 points with seven rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Bryant. The Bulldogs are off to a nice start this year—outside of the 11-point loss to FAU, that is. The good news is that Bryant has posted 73 or more points in every game so far and should notch a solid total here as well.

As for Brown, they’ve had some hits and misses this year so far. The Bears aren’t putting up super-impressive points totals; they’ve hit 70 points just twice this year. I don’t think Brown will keep up if Bryant gets going.
