Buffalo vs James Madison 11/12/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The James Madison Dukes and the Buffalo Bulls meet Saturday in college basketball action from UB Alumni Arena. James Madison is 2-0 so far after wins versus Valley Forge and Hampton this week. James Madison didn’t have any trouble in their first matchup of the year versus Valley Forge. The Dukes posted a ridiculous 72-11 advantage by halftime and cruised to a 123-38 blowout result. Noah Friedel topped the scoring with 17 points and four boards. 

In game two versus Hampton, James Madison kept it going with another blowout victory. The Dukes jumped out to another big halftime lead 57-19 and ended up with a 106-58 result. Terrence Edwards doubled up with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. 

Over on the Buffalo side, they managed to go 19-11 overall last year with a 13-6 record in Mid-American Conference matchups. The Bulls landed in fifth place in the standings with that effort, behind Toledo, Kent State, Ohio and Akron. 

In their first matchup of the 2022-23 season back on Monday, the Bulls were down 41-38 to Colgate at halftime. Buffalo surged in the second half with 50 points in an 88-87 comeback win. Yazid Powell led the team on 24 points, five boards and five rebounds. 

PICK: I’m staying with James Madison. Granted, it’s been against a couple of overmatched opponents, but the Dukes have been quite impressive in their first two outings. In the Hampton game, the Dukes shot a scorching 60.6 percent from the field with 11-of-20 from 3-point range. JMU also came up with 52 rebounds and 21 assists. As for Buffalo, they did a nice job at coming back against Colgate in their first matchup of the season. This will be a tougher test for the Bulls though, and I don’t think they’ll cover.
