The Utah Valley Wolverines and the BYU Cougars meet in a college basketball action from the Marriott Center on Wednesday night.

The Utah Valley Wolverines will look to build on their 88-78 win over Long Beach State last time out. Justin Harmon leads the Wolverines in scoring with 14.1 PPG along with 4.1 RPG and 3 APG while Trey Woodbury has 13.1 PPG with 4.1 RPG and a team-high 4 APG to lead the Wolverines in assists. Aziz Bandaogo has 12 PPG with a team-high 10.1 RPG to lead the Wolverines in rebounding by averaging a double-double per game this season. Le’Tre Darthard has 11.4 PPG to finish off the scoring in double figures for Utah Valley up to this point in the season. As a team, Utah Valley is averaging 74.4 PPG on 42.9% shooting from the field, 28.3% from three and 77.7% from the foul line this season.

The BYU Cougars will try to bounce back from a 69-68 loss to South Dakota last time out. Gideon George leads the Cougars in scoring with 12.6 PPG with 5.9 RPG while Rudi Williams has 12.1 PPG with a team-high 3.3 APG to lead the Cougars in the assist department up to this point in the year. Fousseyni Traore has 11.1 PPG with a team-high 8.4 RPG to lead BYU in rebounding while Spencer Johnson has 11 PPG and 4.3 RPG this season to cap off BYU’s group of double-digit scorers. As a team, BYU is averaging 75.7 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three point range and 66.3% from the foul line so far this season.

Utah Valley is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. BYU is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games following an ATS loss.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m leaning towards Utah Valley and the points mainly because BYU hasn’t really shown an ability to cover the bigger numbers on their plate and while Utah Valley’s had their ups and downs, they’ve done a decent job covering the number this season. I’ll side with the Wolverines and the points here.
