Cal Baptist vs Central Michigan 11/26/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Central Michigan Chippewas and the California Baptist Lancers meet Saturday in college basketball action from CBU Events Center. Central Michigan enters this matchup at 2-3 on the year. The Chippewas beat CSU Northridge in their last game. As for Cal Baptist, they’re 3-3 overall and fell to Southern Illinois on Thursday. Central Michigan hit a 1-3 run over their first four games to open up the season. The Chippewas lost to Marquette in game one then beat Eastern Illinois. The next two games were losses to Minnesota and High Point. 

On Wednesday versus CSU Northridge, the Chippewas held an eight-point lead at halftime. Central Michigan hit 51 points from there in an 82-66 win. Brian Taylor led the scoring with 19 points, and Kevin Miller added 18 points with six assists. 

Over on the Cal Baptist side, they lost their first game to Long Beach State. The Lancers bounced back with wins over NJIT, CSU Northridge and Washington before another loss to Minnesota 62-61 on Monday. 

In Thursday’s matchup versus Southern Illinois, Cal Baptist trailed 33-26 at the break but managed to force overtime. The Lancers ended up falling 64-61 after the extra period. Timothy Ighoefe doubled up in the loss with 11 points and 11 boards. 

PICK: I’m probably staying with Cal Baptist in this one. The Lancers have been competitive so far this year, even though they’re only sitting at .500 overall. Cal Baptist’s last pair of losses have been by a combined four points, and they’ve held opponents to 64 points or fewer in each of the last five games. As for Central Michigan, they’ve done fairly well in comparable matchups this year as well. The Chippewas may not be able to break through Cal Baptist’s defense well enough to cover in this one, though.
