The New Mexico State Aggies and the Dixie State Trailblazers meet Thursday in college basketball action from Burns Arena. New Mexico State is 19-3 so far this year. The Aggies beat Seattle U in their last game. As for Dixie State, they’re 11-12 on the season and lost to Stephen F. Austin in their most recent outing. New Mexico State’s losses have been few and far between this season. The Aggies have fallen to Utah State, New Mexico and Sam Houston along the way. New Mexico State is on a four-game win streak right now, with the latest victory over Seattle U.

Matched up against Seattle on Saturday, the Aggies got off to a 40-28 lead by halftime. New Mexico State eventually cruised to a 79-64 victory. Tops in scoring on the team was Teddy Allen with his 33 points and 11 rebounds.

Over on the Dixie State side, they kicked off the year at 7-5 before hitting a 1-5 stretch in January. The Trailblazers then beat Lamar, UTRGV and Chicago State before recording losses to Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin.

In the Stephen F. Austin game back on Saturday, the Trailblazers were outscored 26-35 in the first half and 26-46 in the second during an 81-52 blowout loss. Leading the team in scoring was Dancell Leter with 13 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The Trailblazers are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 at home and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall. Dixie State is 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-2 ATS in the last eight overall. New Mexico State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Thursday games.

PICK: I’ve got to stay with New Mexico State here. The Aggies have been a solid offensive team for most of the year. They’ve hit 68 or more points in 10 of their last 11 games (the outlier being a 46-point dud versus Sam Houston). Conversely Dixie State had a good run going in late January but they’ve managed just 105 combined points in their last pair. New Mexico State should have a clear path to a cover in this one.
