The Oregon State Beavers and the Florida Gators meet in college basketball action from the Moda Center on Friday.

The Oregon State Beavers will try to bounce back from a narrow 54-51 loss to Duke last time out. Glenn Taylor Jr. leads the Beavers in scoring with 16.3 PPG while Jordan Pope has 15.5 PPG with a team-high 3.8 APG to lead the Beavers in the assist department up to this point in the year. Dexter Akanno has 10.8 PPG with 3.3 APG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Oregon State so far this season while Rodrigue Andela has 8 PPG and a team-high 7 RPG to lead the Beavers on the glass this season. As a team, Oregon State is averaging 66.6 PPG on 45.7% shooting from the field, 26.1% from three and 76.3% from the foul line this season.

The Florida Gators will look to rebound from a 90-83 loss to Xavier last time out. Colin Castleton leads the Gators in scoring and rebounding with 25.2 PPG and 8.8 RPG while Will Richard has 14 PPG with 4.5 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Florida so far this season. Kyle Lofton also has 9.8 PPG with 3.8 APG to lead the Gators in assists so far this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 80.4 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 36.1% from three point range and 74.8% from the foul line this season.

I get the case to be made for Oregon State by a lot of folks after taking Duke down to the wire, but no disrespect to Oregon State, but I think that loss was more about Duke just coming out flat than it was more Oregon State controlling it. That’s still a young Duke team and an inexperienced coach in Jon Scheyer that’s still learning the ropes and learning that killer instinct. Florida is a veteran team with a ton of experienced players that I just don’t think that Oregon State is going to have any sort of answer for. Give me the Gators.
