Florida vs UConn 12/7/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UConn Huskies and the Florida Gators meet Wednesday in college basketball action from O’Connell Center. UConn enters this one at 9-0 overall. The Huskies beat Oklahoma State in their last matchup. As for Florida, they’re currently 6-3 and fresh off a win over Stetson. UConn has been great this year with nine straight wins. Those victories have come versus Stonehill, Boston U, Buffalo, UNC Wilmington, Delaware State, Oregon, Alabama, Iowa State and Oklahoma State in succession. 

Last Thursday versus Oklahoma State, UConn got off to a 48-31 halftime edge and cruised to a 74-64 victory. Leading scorer Jordan Hawkins put up 26 points, and Adama Sanogo added 20 points with six boards. 

Over on the Florida side, they went 3-1 over their first four games, beating Stony Brook, Kennesaw State and Florida State. The Gators hit a 2-2 run after that with losses versus Xavier and West Virginia. 

Florida managed a win over Stetson in their last game Sunday. The Gators took a 33-22 edge into halftime and eventually won 89-51 after 56 second-half points. Will Richard topped the team on 14 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with UConn here. This is a pretty interesting matchup, though. The Huskies have had zero trouble in their nine games so far. They’ve won each matchup by double-digits—including a 71-53 dismantling of a great Iowa State team on November 2. 

That said, Florida has put up some pretty impressive offensive numbers this year. The Gators have hit 74 or more points in eight of their nine games so far—the lone exception being an 84-55 loss to West Virginia. Considering how well UConn is playing this season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar score in this one.
