Georgia Tech vs Alabama State 12/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Alabama State Hornets and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets meet in college basketball action from the McCamish Pavilion on Saturday.

The Alabama State Hornets will try to rebound from a 71-63 loss to North Alabama last time out. Isaiah Range leads the Hornets in scoring with 13.6 PPG while TJ Madlock has 12.2 PPG with a team-high 5.6 RPG to lead the Hornets in reboundnig as the only other double-digit scorer for Alabama State so far this season. Alex Anderson also has 8.3 PPG with 5 RPG and a team-high 3 APG and Jordan O’Neal also has 5.6 RPG this season. As a team, Alabama State is averaging 60.7 PPG on 34.5% shooting from the field, 34.8% from three and 66.7% from the foul line this season.  

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will look to bounce back from a 75-59 road loss to North Carolina in their last game. Miles Kelly leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 13.6 PPG while Dallas Coleman has 10.6 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Georgia Tech up to this point in the year. Jalon Moore has 9.4 PPG with 5.8 RPG while Deivon Smith has 9.1 PPG with a team-high 3.5 APG to lead G-Tech in assists and Javon Franklin also has 8.3 PPG and a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead the Yellow Jackets on the glass this season. As a team, Georgia Tech is averaging 70.8 PPG on 42.4% shooting from the field, 30.3% from behind the arc and 71.1% from the foul line this season. 

Alabama State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games against a team with a home winning percentage above .600 while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 road games. Georgia Tech is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m leaning towards the Yellow Jackets here. Georgia Tech’s been the better team this season by a fair margin and the Yellow Jackets if nothing else, have done a good job at beating up on the team’s they’re supposed to beat on so give me the Yellow Jackets by 20+ as I just don’t see Alabama State having the answers here.
