The Northern Illinois Huskies and the Gonzaga Bulldogs meet in college basketball action from the McCarthey Athletic Center on Monday night.
The Northern Illinois Huskies will look to rebound from an 84-47 loss to Idaho last time out. Keshawn Williams leads the Huskies in scoring with 17.4 PPG along with 4.2 RPG and 2.6 APG while David Colt has 14 PPG and Zarique Nutter has 12.5 PPG and a team-high 5.4 RPG to lead the Huskies on the glass up to this point in the year and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Northern Illinois so far this season. As a team, Northern Illinois is averaging 69.4 PPG on 43.6% shooting from the field, 34.1% from three and 65.5% from the foul line this season.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs will try to add to a 77-60 win over Washington last time out. Drew Timme leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 20 PPG and 8.1 RPG while Julian Strawther has 14.1 PPG and a team-high 8.9 RPG to lead the Bulldogs on the glass. Rasir Bolton has 11.3 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Gonzaga so far this season and Nolan Hickman has a team-high 4 APG as well this year. As a team, Gonzaga is averaging 79.9 PPG on 49.6% shooting from the field, 37.3% from three and 70.3% from the foul line this season.
Northern Illinois is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS loss while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Monday games. Gonzaga is 2-11-3 ATS in their last 16 home games and 2-11-3 ATS in their last 16 games following a win while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
I get the case to be made for either side here as this is a lot of points, but Gonzaga even in what looks to be a less threatening team this season, is fully capable of winning this one by 30+. Instead, I’m going to look at the under. NIU has really struggled to take the step up to their competition this season, especially on offense and I don’t know if that’ll change here and even Gonzaga might not be able to do enough heavy lifting here to get over the number. Give me the under.
