Grand Canyon vs Northern Iowa 11/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northern Iowa Panthers and the Grand Canyon Lopes meet in college basketball action from the T-Mobile Center on Tuesday.

The Northern Iowa Panthers will be out to rebound from a 75-69 loss at the hands of San Francisco in their last game. Bowen Born leads the Panthers in scoring and assists with 18 PPG and 2 APG while Nate Heise has 12 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for the Panthers up to this point in the year. Tytan Anderson also has 9.5 PPG with a team-high 11 RPG to lead the Panthers on the glass. As a team, Northern Iowa is averaging 76.3 points per game on 48.1% shooting from the field, 33.8% from three point range and 59.6% from the foul line this season.

The Grand Canyon Lopes will hope to bounce back after a 55-43 defeat at the hands of Wichita State in their last game. Jovan Blacksher Jr. leads the Lopes in scoring with 13 PPG while Rayshon Harrison has 10.3 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Grand Canyon so far this season. Gabe McGlothan has 9.5 PPG with a team-high 8 RPG to lead Grand Canyon in rebounding with Josh Baker has a team-high 4 APG to lead the Lopes in the assist department up to this point in the season. As a team, Grand Canyon is averaging 66.2 points per game on 40.3% shooting from the field, 28.8% from behind the arc and 70% from the foul line this season.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m going to back the under. I just don’t trust Grand Canyon to be able to do enough to help push us over the number at the snail’s pace they play at and I also don’t expect Northern Iowa to have a ton of success against Grand Canyon’s defense either. Seems like a first to 60 wins kind of game. Give me the under.
