The Albany Great Danes and the Hartford Hawks meet Sunday in America East Tournament college basketball action from ChaseFamily Arena. Albany is 13-17 on the season and lost to Hartford in their last game. As for Hartford, they’re sitting at 11-19 this year. The Hawks lost to UMass Lowell in their most recent outing. Albany has had a few good winning streaks this season, but they haven’t been able to maintain form for long. The Great Danes had a three-game streak going versus Binghamton, New Hampshire and Maine but they’ve lost their last pair to Stony Brook and Hartford.

On Tuesday versus Hartford, the Danes kept the pace in the first half but were outscored 25-37 from there in a disappointing 67-55 loss. Jamel Horton was the only double-digit team scorer with 24 points and four rebounds.

Over on the Hartford side, they went just 5-16 in their first 21 games this year but they’ve been better lately. The Hawks are 3-2 in their last five games, beating Stony Brook, NJIT and Albany with losses otherwise to UMBC and UMass Lowell.

In the UMass Lowell matchup on Thursday, the Hawks were down by three at halftime. Hartford was outscored 40-47 from there in an 83-73 defeat. David Shriver led the team on his 22 points with four rebounds.

The Hawks are 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. Hartford is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall.
Meanwhile, the Danes are 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games and 8-1-2 ATS in their last 11 road games. Albany is 1-4-2 ATS in their last seven overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Albany here. You could probably make a case either way here, though; neither squad has been all that trustworthy lately and this is looking like a coin flip. In any case, Albany managed a 71-52 road win the first time these teams met up, but lost 67-55 back on Tuesday. It’s been a rough couple of games for the Great Danes, but prior to that they’d scored 68 or more in three straight wins. This matchup could go a lot of different ways, but it’ll probably be tight. I think Albany can power out a cover along the way.
