Iona vs Quinnipiac 3/5/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Iona Gaels meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hynes Athletic Center. Quinnipiac is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Monmouth. In that one the Bobcats lost by three points. As for Iona, they played Manhattan in their Thursday game. The Gaels ended up losing by two. Quinnipiac managed a reasonable 11-7 start to the year, but they’ve only won one game since January 28. The Bobcats finished February on a 1-6 stretch, falling to Saint Peter’s, Monmouth, Manhattan, Marist, Siena and Canisius during the month. 

In the Thursday matchup versus Monmouth, the Bobcats were down by four points going into the second half. Quinnipiac scored 42 more after the break but lost 75-72. Dezi Jones was the top scorer on 26 points and three boards. 

Over on the Iona side, they’ve been a highly consistent team so far and have only lost consecutive games twice. The Gaels went into the Thursday game with a win streak over Monmouth, Saint Peter’s, Fairfield, Canisius and Rider in a five-game stretch. 

Matched up against Manhattan on Thursday, the Gaels trailed 31-40 by halftime. Iona hit a 41-34 run in the second half but couldn’t come back in a 74-72 loss. Nelly Junior Joseph doubled up on 18 points with 12 rebounds in the defeat. 

The Gaels are 5-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall. Iona is 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four after an ATS win and the over is 11-5 in their last 16 road games. The under is 11-5 in Quinnipiac’s last 16 road games. 

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Iona here. The Gaels had a rough game versus Manhattan on Thursday, but still shot 50 percent from the field with 35 rebounds. Iona’s 16 turnovers and 23.5 percent shooting from 3-point range didn’t help much, though. 

The last time these teams met up back on January 23, Iona pulled off a 76-61 road victory. This one might not be so easy, but I still think the Gaels can pull off the cover.
