LA-Monroe vs Jacksonville 12/20/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Jacksonville Dolphins and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Jacksonville is 6-3 overall on the year. The Dolphins beat Charleston Southern in their last game. As for LA-Monroe, they’re 4-8 on the season and coming off a win over Lamar. Jacksonville went 3-1 over their first four games with a lone loss to Duke. The Dolphins have gone 3-2 since then with victories over Trinity Baptist, VCU and Charleston Southern alongside losses to UAB and UNCW. 

In the Charleston Southern matchup on Saturday, Jacksonville scored 36 points in the first half. The Dolphins repeated that feat in the second half on the way to a 72-63 win. Kevin Nolan put up 15 points and six assists to lead the way. 

Over on the LA-Monroe side, they’ve got wins over DCC, Central Baptist, Champion Christian and Lamar. The losses otherwise have come to Texas A&M, TCU, La Tech, Omaha, Loyola MD, Tulane, Northwestern State and Sam Houston. 

In the Lamar game on Saturday, the Warhawks jumped out to a 40-19 edge by halftime. LA-Monroe scored another 43 points in the second half during an 83-59 win. Tyreke Locure led the team on 17 points with six assists. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Jacksonville. Probably not touching this one, though. The Dolphins have scored pretty well lately with 72 or more points in three of their last four outings. This season, Jacksonville has been something of a mixed bag offensively but the team shouldn’t match up too badly in this one. As for LA-Monroe, they’ve hit 73 or more points in three of their last four outings. This should be a pretty interesting game overall, and I like Jacksonville to eke out the cover. Not going near it, though.
