The Pacific Tigers and the Lamar Cardinals meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Montagne Center. Pacific is 6-8 on the year so far and coming off a win over San Jose State. As for Lamar, they’re 4-8 this season and fresh off a loss to LA-Monroe. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Pacific started out the year at just 2-5 overall. The Tigers would then hit a 2-3 run with losses to UCSB, Northern Arizona and CSUEB. In the last two games Pacific has beaten Stan State and San Jose State.

On Saturday versus San Jose State, the Tigers were down 37-22 at halftime. Pacific stormed back in the second half with a 37-21 run and took the comeback win 59-58. Keylan Boone led the team on 17 points and two rebounds.

Over on the Lamar side, they’ve got wins over St. Thomas, HTU, Lindenwood and Our Lady of the Lake. The losses have come versus TCU, Western Carolina, McNeese, SMU, Texas State, Southern Miss (twice) and LA-Monroe.

Matched up against LA-Monroe, the Cardinals were destroyed 40-19 in the first half. Lamar didn’t get any closer with a 43-40 second-half deficit in an 83-59 loss. Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams led the way on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Pacific. Probably not going near this one, though. The Tigers are coming off a scrappy win over a pretty good San Jose State team, thanks to a 16-point advantage in the second half. Pacific didn’t score great in that one, but they had 69 or more points in six straight games prior to it. As for Lamar, they’re on a bad 0-3 stretch with 65 or fewer points in each outing and 59 apiece in two of them. If Pacific plays well I don’t see Lamar keeping up.
