Long Beach State vs. Vermont 11/27/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Vermont Catamounts and the Long Beach State Beach meet in college basketball action from the Baha Mar Convention Center on Sunday.

The Vermont Catamounts will try to bounce back from a 68-66 loss to UNC-Wilmington last time out. Dylan Penn leads Vermont in scoring with 12.7 PPG while Aaron Deloney has 12.1 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Vermont up to this point in the year. Finn Sullivan has 8 PPG with 5.1 RPG and 2.7 APG and Robin Duncan has a team-high of 6 RPG to lead Vermont in rebounding this season. As a team, Vermont is averaging 64.1 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the field, 31.3% from three point range and 66.1% from the foul line this season.  

The Long Beach State Beach will hope to bounce back from an 84-78 loss to Utah Valley last time out. Joel Murray leads the Beach in scoring and assists with 14.6 PPG and 4.8 APG while Marcus Tsohonis has 11.5 PPG and Aboubacar Traore has 10.8 PPG with a team-high 8.8 RPG to lead the Beach on the glass as the team’s top rebounder while also rounding out the group of double-digit scorers for Long Beach State up to this point in the season. As a team, Long Beach State is averaging 69 PPG on 45.7% shooting from the field, 23.5% from three and 62.4% from the foul line this season.

This Vermont team is not the same Catamounts group that we’ve been making money with year in and year out, and maybe the Catamounts will turn it around in conference play. However, that doesn’t help Vermont right now, who haven’t been great defensively, and the offense has been pretty much non-existent for the Catamounts up to this point. Long Beach State isn’t a world beater, but they are the better team by a fair margin in this matchup and should be in prime position to get a win and cover here.
