Marquette vs Creighton 12/16/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Creighton Bluejays and the Marquette Golden Eagles meet Friday in college basketball action from Fiserv Forum. Creighton is 6-5 on the year so far. The Bluejays lost to Arizona State in their last game. As for Marquette, they’re 8-3 overall and coming off a win over Notre Dame. Creighton opened up the year with six straight wins (including one over Arkansas) before hitting a losing streak. The Bluejays would lose to Arizona, Teas, Nebraska, BYU and Arizona State over the next five outings. 

On Monday versus Arizona State, the Bluejays trailed 35-29 by halftime. Creighton posted a 42-38 advantage in the second half but couldn’t complete the comeback in a 73-71 loss. Top scorer Baylor Scheierman posted 18 points and eight boards. 

Over on the Eagles’ side, they went 3-2 over their first five games with losses to Purdue and Mississippi State. Marquette has gone 5-1 since with victories versus Georgia Tech, Chicago State, Baylor, NC Central and Notre Dame. 

On Sunday versus Notre Dame, Marquette went into halftime with a 34-29 lead. The Golden Eagles kept up the pressure with a 45-35 second-half run and won 79-64. Kameron Jones topped the team with 25 points and six rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Marquette in this one. The Eagles posted a nice effort versus a good Notre Dame team in their last outing, shooting 47.8 percent from the field with a 41-32 rebounding advantage (15-9 offensive). Marquette has been scoring very well lately with 77 or more points in six straight games. As for Creighton, they’ve had it rough against some tough teams over this five-game losing streak. The Bluejays lost four of those by five points or fewer. This one might be close, but I’m still leaning toward Marquette cover-wise.
