Vermont won their opener versus Brown this year, then hit a losing streak to Saint Mary’s, CSU Fullerton, USC, Iona and Yale. The Catamounts would then beat Ball State before losing to UNC Wilmington and Long Beach State.

On Thursday versus Lyndon State, the Catamounts were up 54-37 by halftime. Vermont hit a 47-26 run in the second half for a 101-63 win. Robin Duncan led the team on 18 points, and Aaron Deloney added 16 points.

Over on the Merrimack side, they lost to St. John’s in their opener then beat Clark (Mass.) in game two. The Warriors then hit a losing streak versus Troy, Montana, St. Thomas MN, Providence, Bradley and UMass Lowell.

Merrimack’s slide continued on Saturday versus Boston U. The Warriors were within five points at the break but ultimately lost 68-54. Jordan Minor led the way with 21 points and six boards. Ziggy Reid added 13 points as well.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Vermont. That said, there’s not much to like here. The Catamounts are coming off a pretty easy matchup and their highest points total of the year so far. Vermont has hit 78 points or more in four of their 10 games so far this year and they should be in control here. Merrimack has scored 64 points or fewer in eight of their nine games this year so it won’t take much offense to get things going.
