The Rider Broncs and the Monmouth Hawks meet in college basketball action from the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Friday evening.

The Rider Broncs come into this one fresh off of their 71-70 win over Iona in their last game. Dwight Murray Jr. leads the Broncs in scoring and assists with 12.8 PPG and 4.7 APG along with 6.4 RPG while Dimencio Vaughn has 12.5 PPG with a team-high 7.5 RPG to lead the Broncs on the glass this season. Allen Powell has 11.8 PPG with 2.6 APG and Mervin James has 11.2 PPG with 5.1 RPG to cap off the scoring in double-digits this season. Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson also has 8.7 PPG and 7 RPG this season. As a team, Rider is averaging 67.3 PPG on 40.6% shooting from the field, 30.8% from three and 73.7% from the foul line while allowing 69.2 PPG on 41.3% shooting from the field and 33.8% from three this season.

The Monmouth Hawks will look to punch their ticket to the next round after a 61-58 win over Niagara last time out. George Papas leads the Hawks in scoring and assists with 15.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 2.9 APG while Shavar Reynolds has 14.1 PPG with 3 RPG. Walker Miller’s got 14.6 PPG and 6 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Monmouth so far this season. Nikkei Rutty also has a team-high 7.6 RPG of his own to lead the Hawks in rebounding so far this season. As a team, Monmouth is averaging 69.2 PPG on 42.3% shooting from the field, 32.5% from three and 72.5% from the foul line while allowing 67.8 PPG on 40.5% shooting from the field and 31.7% from three this season.

Rider is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 neutral site games. Monmouth is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Friday games while the under is 13-3-1 in their last 17 neutral site games as a favorite.

I get the case to be made for Monmouth here but the Hawks haven’t been as convincing ATS as they were earlier on in the season and this Rider team is a live dog every time they take the floor. Just ask Iona who look to be NIT bound. I’m not sure Rider pulls off another upset, but they’ve beaten the Hawks once this season and could have some confidence here to try again. Give me the Broncs and the points here.
