The Ball State Cardinals and the Omaha Mavericks meet in college basketball action from the Baxter Arena on Wednesday night.
The Ball State Cardinals will look to rebound from an 83-71 loss to Indiana State last time out. Jarron Coleman led the Cardinals with 29 points on 9 of 18 shooting with 7 threes while Payton Sparks added 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 6 threes and Demarius Jacobs added 12 points with a team-high 10 rebounds to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Ball State in the losing effort. Coleman also dished out a team-high 4 assists as well in the defeat.
The Omaha Mavericks will hope to build on a 79-72 win over Idaho in their last game. Frankie Fidler led the Mavericks with 28 points on 8 of 13 shooting with a team-high 11 rebounds for the double-double while Marquel Sutton added 16 points on 4 of 10 shooting with 3 threes and 8 rebounds as the only other double-digit scorer for Omaha in the victory. JJ White also dished out a team-high 6 assists while Dylan Brougham added 9 points with a pair of steals and a pair of blocks in the winning effort.
Ball State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 17-35 in their last 52 road games while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 games following a loss. Omaha is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 home games while the over is 20-7 in their last 27 games overall.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but I’m siding with Omaha as the home underdog is 3-0 ATS to start the year. Granted, the Mavericks were getting more points in the underdog role, but hey covers are covers and I just think that this is where the value is even if Ball State gets the win, I don’t see it being by more than 3. Give me Omaha and the points.
