Richmond vs Wichita State 11/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Wichita State Shockers and the Richmond Spiders meet Thursday in college basketball action from Robins Center. Wichita State is 1-1 so far following a loss to Alcorn State in their last outing. Wichita State kicked off their season with a matchup versus Central Arkansas. The Shockers were up 41-21 by the break and didn’t have too many issues in a 79-55 win. Leading scorer Craig Porter managed 22 points, four assists and four rebounds. 

The Shockers held a 31-28 halftime edge in their second game versus Alcorn State back on Saturday. Wichita State was outscored 38-26 from there in a 66-57 loss. Kenny Pohto led the team this time with 13 points, four rebonds and two assists. 

Over on the Richmond side, they began their 2022-23 campaign with a matchup versus VMI. The Spiders rolled to a 69-48 win in that one. Richmond didn’t have too much trouble with Northern Iowa in game two, posting a strong second half for a 68-55 win. 

On Monday versus Charleston, the Spiders were down 45-31 at the break. Richmond rallied in the second to force overtime, but unfortunately they still lost 92-90. Tyler Burton managed 38 points with six rebounds, and Matt Grace put up 16 points. 

PICK: I’m probably staying with Richmond here. This should be a fun matchup, though. The Spiders had a rough first half in their loss to Charleston, but the good news is that the team was able to rally and make a game of it. Richmond was out-muscled on the boards 41-38 and had just 13 team assists to Charleston’s 17, however the team shot well overall. If Wichita State can get their offense going this one could be highly competitive, but I think Richmond will cover.
