The Central Connecticut State Blue Devils and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights meet in college basketball action from the Jersey Mike’s Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Central Connecticut State Blue Devils will be looking for their first win after dropping to 0-6 with a 66-58 loss to Maine last time out. Kellen Amos leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 12.8 PPG along with 4 RPG while Nigel Scantlebury has 11.7 PPG with a team-high 3.2 APG to lead Central Connecticut State in assists. Davonte Sweatman has 11.2 PPG with 3.7 RPG and 3 APG to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for CCSU so far this season. Andre Snoddy also has 6.2 RPG to lead the Blue Devils on the glass so far this season. As a team, Central Connecticut State is averaging 65.8 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field, 36.4% from three and 66.2% from the foul line this season.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will look to build on their 76-46 win over Rider last time out. Clifford Omoruyi leads the Scarlet Knights in scoring and rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with 18 PPG and 10.8 RPG while Cam Spencer has 17.2 PPG with a team-high 3.6 APG to lead the Scarlet Knights in the assist department this season. Aundre Hyatt has 12.6 PPG with 5.4 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Rutgers up to this point in the year. As a team, Rutgers is averaging 75.6 PPG on 42.3% shooting from the field, 28.6% from three and 68.7% from the foul line this season.

Central Connecticut State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 10-2-1 in their last 13 games following an ATS loss. Rutgers is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record.

I get the case to be made for a decent sixed underdog as I’m not usually rushing to back Rutgers laying a big number, but the Blue Devils have been getting their butts kicked whenever they take the big step up in competition and Rutgers has done a good job of easily dispatching the bottom feeders that they’ve faced to date. I think this one’s a comfortable Rutgers win, so I’ll lay it and play it with the Scarlet Knights here.
