The Quinnipiac Bobcats & Siena Saints will square off at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall this Thursday night in the Quarterfinals of the MAAC Championship.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats improved to 13-16 on the season after upsetting the 6-seed Marist Red Foxes, 77-52, this past Tuesday. Quinnipiac was outstanding on both ends of the court against Marist and was able to pull away in the 2nd half after taking a 54-35 lead with 11:19 left in regulation. Quinnipiac shot 43.3% from the field & 48.6% from beyond the arc while holding Marist to 39.7% shooting from the field & 11.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bobcats was Dezi Jones who had a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 block, & 2 steals.

On the season, Quinnipiac is averaging 72.3 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Bobcats are averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Quinnipiac has been led by Matt Balanc (14.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.0 spg), Dezi Jones (11.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.1 spg), Kevin Marfo (9.4 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 3.9 apg), & Jacob Rigoni (8.8 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Quinnipiac is allowing their opponents to average 71.8 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Bobcats have a rebound margin of 0.8 and a turnover margin of -0.4.

The Siena Saints finished their regular season with an overall record of 15-13 and earned the 3-seed in the MAAC Championship after finishing conference play with a 12-8 conference record. Siena finished their non-conference portion of their schedule with a 3-5 record with their best win coming against the Harvard Crimson. Siena was solid midway through their conference schedule, winning 6 of 7 games which included a 70-64 win at home against Iona, however, the Saints struggled down the stretch and come into this game losing 3 of their last 5 games.

On the season, Siena is averaging 66.1 ppg on 42.9% shooting from the field. The Saints are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 35.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Siena has been led by Colby Rogers (14.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.3 apg), Jackson Stormo (11.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.2 bpg), Anthony Gaines (10.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.0 spg), & Nick Hopkins (8.0 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.6 spg).

Defensively, Siena is allowing their opponents to average 68.9 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Saints have a rebound margin of -2.4 and a turnover margin of -1.0.

The Bobcats are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 neutral site games & 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Saints are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss, however, are just 2-5 ATS in their last neutral site games.

Siena defeated Quinnipiac in both regular season matchups this season as the Saints defeated the Bobcats by an 85-76 margin at home in late January and by a 78-71 margin on the road in late February.

Quinnipiac picked up a great win against Marist, however, this is still a team that went just 4-9 on the road this season and come into this game ranked just 231st in FG%, 246th in scoring defense, & 199th in defensive FG%. Siena comes into this game ranked just 298th in scoring offense, however, the Saints had no trouble generating offense is both matchups against Quinnipiac and as I think Siena is the better overall team, I’m taking the Saints and the points. Good Luck!
