SIU-Edwardsville vs Tennessee Tech 2/12/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and the SIU Edwardsville Cougars meet Saturday in college basketball action from Vadalabene Center. Tennessee Tech is coming off a matchup versus Eastern Illinois. The Eagles ended up with an 11-point victory there. As for SIU Edwardsville, they played TN-Martin in their last outing. In that one the Cougars won by eight points. Tennessee Tech hit the skids this year, going just 5-18 over their first 23 games. The wins in that time were versus Oakwood, Lipscomb, Montreat, UT Martin and SIU Edwardsville, The Eagles picked up another win over Eastern Illinois on Monday. 

In the Thursday rematch versus Eastern Illinois, Tennessee Tech jumped out to a 40-26 halftime lead and hung on for the eventual 73-62 victory. Jr. Clay put up 15 points, and John Pettway managed 12 points with nine rebounds. 

Over on the SIU Edwardsville side, they went 7-8 in their first 15 games this year. The Cougars would then hit a losing streak versus Belmont, Tennessee Tech, Morehead, UT Martin, Tennessee State, SEMO, Austin Peay, Murray State and SEMO again. 

Matched up against UT Martin on Thursday, the Cougars managed 36 points in the first half and 35 more after the break on the way to a 71-63 win. Shaun Doss led the team on 16 points, and Courtney Carter added 14 points with six boards and six assists. 

The Cougars are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 1-9 ATS in the last 10 after a straight-up win. The under is 4-0 in SIUE’s last four overall. 

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 4-0 ATS in the last four overall. The over is 5-2 in Tennessee Tech’s last seven road games. 

PICK: I’m probably still sticking with Tennessee Tech here. This is something of an odd matchup, though. The Eagles haven’t been all that great during this 2-6 stretch, but they were able to bag a pair of convincing wins over Eastern Illinois in their last two outings. 

These teams last met up on January 20 in a 94-76 home win for Tennessee Tech. SIU Edwardsville has put up some decent points totals since then and should be able to hang around for most of the game here. I still like Tennessee Tech a little better on the eventual cover/win, though.
