The TCU Horned Frogs and the SMU Mustangs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Dickies Arena. TCU is 7-1 on the year so far. The Frogs beat Jackson State in their last outing. As for SMU, they’re sitting at 3-6 on the season and coming off a loss to Arizona State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

TCU lost to Northwestern State in their third game, but otherwise it’s been all victories. Those wins came over AR-Pine Bluff, Lamar, LA-Monroe, California, Iowa, Providence and Jackson State.

On Tuesday versus Jackson State, the Horned Frogs didn’t have much trouble. TCU was up 39-27 at the break and ended up winning 78-51 after another 39 second-half points. JaKobe Coles led the team on his 21 points and seven boards.

Over on the SMU side, it’s been an up-and-down year. The Mustangs have just three wins over Texas A&M-Commerce, Evansville and Lamar. SMU has fallen to Texas A&M, Jackson State and Arizona State in their last three outings.

In the Wednesday game versus Arizona State, the Mustangs took a 33-28 advantage into the second half. SMU was drilled 47-24 from there and lost 75-57. Zhuric Phelps was the leading team scorer with 19 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with TCU in this one. The Frogs had a fairly easy win over Jackson State in their last outing and they’ve done pretty well this year overall. TCU has scored 75 or more points in three straight games and should also put up a nice total here. As for SMU, they imploded after halftime in their last matchup versus a good Arizona State team. The Mustangs will face an uphill battle here as well and I don’t think they’ll keep in range if TCU is playing well.
