The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies meet Friday in college basketball action from UBS Arena. The Irish are 5-0 so far this year. Notre Dame is coming off a win over Bowling Green. As for St. Bonaventure, they’re 3-2 and coming off a win over Southern Indiana. Notre Dame eked out a 79-76 win over Radford in their opener, then beat Youngstown State 88-81. The Irish kept it going with wins in their next two over Southern Indiana 82-70 and Lipscomb 66-65.

Back on Tuesday, Notre Dame faced off against Bowling Green. The Irish were up by just two points at the break but turned in a 40-26 run in the second for an 82-66 win. JJ Starling led the team on 23 points, and Nate Laszewski added 22 points.

Over on the St. Bonaventure side, they beat St. Francis PA 71-58 in their opener, then fell in consecutive outings to Canisius 84-80 and South Dakota State 66-62. The Bonnies rebounded with an 81-68 win over Bowling Green.

In Tuesday’s matchup versus Southern Indiana, the Bonnies posted 30 points in the first half and 50 more in the second for an 80-66 win. Chad Venning led the team with 21 points and seven rebounds, and Kyrell Luc had 19 points.

PICK: I might try St. Bonaventure here. The Bonnies have had a couple of dud outings this year but for the most part they’re scoring pretty well. St. Bonaventure has put up 71 or more points in four of their five games so far. Considering Notre Dame has had a few close calls already (three wins by seven points or fewer) I think the Bonnies can hang in there for a cover.
