The St. Francis (PA) Red Flash and St. Bonaventure Bonnies meet Monday in college basketball action at the Reilly Center. The St. Francis (PA) Red Flash are coming off a 9-win season. The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are coming off a 23-win season, one of their best years in school history.

The St. Francis (PA) Red Flash have won a combined 15 games these last 2 years. Josh Cohen returns after averaging 12.9 points and 7 rebounds, while Myles Thompson averaged 11.2 points and 1 assist. Ronell Giles Jr. played in 486 minutes last season and Maxwell Land averaged 4.2 rebounds. The St. Francis (PA) Red Flash didn’t have much success last season, but they return the majority of last year’s key players, including a double-double guys in Choen. The senior is coming off his best season yet, and he’ll be in the running for the best player in the NEC. Don’t overlook the Red Flash, as they should push for double-digit victories.

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies enter year 16 under coach Mark Schmidt. Justin Ndjock-Tadjore returns after averaging 0.3 points and 0.2 rebounds, and he’s the only returning player who saw minutes last season. Ndjock-Tadjore played in 30 minutes last season and produced 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 turnovers. Anouar Mellouk and Brett Rumpel are the two other returning players who were on last year’s roster, but neither guy saw the court, as they redshirted. St. Bonaventure has the least returning scoring of any team on the Division I level. Uh, basically it’s a hide and watch approach for the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, as this is a completely different team from a year ago.

The Red Flash are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Bonnies are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The under is 14-6 in Red Flash last 20 overall. The under is 8-2 in Red Flash last 10 road games.

I’m not sure how anybody can feel comfortable laying chalk with a St. Bonaventure Bonnies that returns just one player from last season. Yes, the St. Francis-Pennsylvania Red Flash don’t snag the talent of an A10 team, but they do have arguably the best player in the NEC, for what that’s worth. We just don’t know what to expect from a St. Bonaventure side with so many new faces. Give me the points.
