Stephen F. Austin vs Northwestern State 12/1/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northwestern State Demons and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks meet Thursday in college basketball action from William R. Johnson Coliseum. Northwestern State is 5-2 on the year so far. The Demons took out Bethune-Cookman in their last game. As for Stephen F. Austin, they’re 4-3 on the season and coming off a win over UNC Greensboro. Northwestern State got off to a rocky start with losses to Texas Tech and Illinois State in their first three games. The Demons would then hit a win streak, beating TCU, Illinois State and Central Arkansas in their next trio. 

Northwestern State kept it going on Sunday versus Bethune-Cookman. The Demons scored 33 points in the first half and 36 more from there during a 69-66 victory. Isaac Haney posted 16 points, and Dayne Prim doubled on 15 points and 12 boards. 

Over on the Stephen F. Austin side, they went 3-1 over their first four with victories over LeTourneau, Gardner-Webb and South Dakota State. The Lumberjacks would then hit consecutive losses to Quinnipiac and Middle Tennessee. 

In their Sunday matchup versus UNC Greensboro, the Lumberjacks got back into the win column. Stephen F. Austin held a 41-32 halftime advantage and rolled to a 75-58 win. Roti Ware led the way on 17 points and four assists. 

PICK: I’ll probably take a stab on Stephen F. Austin here. You could probably make a case either way, though; it should be a fun matchup. That said, the Lumberjacks were able to bounce back well in their last outing following a couple of rough losses. Stephen F. Austin has been all over the place scoring-wise this year but the good news is that they’ve hit 75 or more points in each of their wins. Northwestern State should provide a good counterpoint in this one and I think it’ll be a high-scoring, competitive game.
