TCU vs Texas Tech 12/31/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Schollmaier Arena. Texas Tech is 10-2 overall this year and coming off a win over South Carolina State. As for TCU, they just finished up against Central Arkansas on Wednesday. Texas Tech went 4-2 in their first six games this year, losing to Creighton and Ohio State along the way. The Raiders have since won six straight versus Georgetown, Nicholls State, Eastern Washington, Jackson State, Houston Christian and South Carolina State. 

In the SC State matchup on Wednesday, the Raiders drilled the Bulldogs 59-36 in the first half. Texas Tech kept it up with a 51-35 second half in a 110-71 blowout win. Kevin Obanor was the lead scorer on 24 points with nine rebounds. 

Over on the TCU side, they lost game three to Northwestern State but otherwise took out AR-Pine Bluff, Lamar, LA-Monroe, California, Iowa, Providence, Jackson State, SMU, Mississippi Valley State and Utah in their first 11 outings this year. 

On Wednesday versus Central Arkansas, the Frogs didn’t have any trouble. TCU scored 49 points in the first half and 54 more in the second for a 103-57 win. Emanuel Miller doubled up in the victory with 20 points and 10 rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll probably take a stab on Texas Tech here. The Raiders are coming off an easy win versus a struggling South Carolina team, posting 64.4 percent shooting, 46 rebounds and 26 team assists in that stretch. Texas Tech has scored 70 or more points in eight straight games, and they’ve been above 101 in each of the last three. As for TCU, they’re on a nice roll lately with 75 or more points in seven straight games. Texas Tech is going to have to step on the offensive gas pedal, but I think the Raiders can cover.
