Temple vs VCU 12/3/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The VCU Rams and the Temple Owls meet Saturday in college basketball action from Liacouras Center. VCU is 5-2 overall this year. The Rams beat Vanderbilt in Wednesday’s matchup. VCU got off to a 3-1 start this year, beating Manhattan, Morgan State and Pittsburgh (with a loss to Arizona State). The Rams would then lose to Memphis, beat Kennesaw State and beat Vanderbilt over their next three outings. 

In the Vanderbilt matchup, the Rams put up a 35-28 advantage by the break. VCU added another 35 points after halftime in a 70-65 win. Tops in scoring was Adrian Baldwin with 28 points, and Jamir Watkins added 13 points. 

Over on the Owls’ side, they went 2-2 over their first quartet with wins over Villanova and Rutgers alongside losses to Wagner and Vanderbilt. Temple lost to St. John’s and Richmond in consecutive games, then beat Drexel. 

Temple managed another win in their Wednesday game versus La Salle. The Owls had a sluggish first half with just 21 points, however the team rallied from there in a 67-51 win. Khalif Battle posted 22 points in the victory. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Temple but probably not going near it. You could make a pretty good case either way here; it should be a good matchup. Temple is coming off a great effort against La Salle (after the rough first half), shooting 46.2 percent from the floor overall with 40 rebounds. The Owls have looked decent in their last pair of games after the ugly 49-point output against Richmond. As for VCU, they should be able to hang around for most of the way here. Ultimately I like Temple a little better on a cover but it’ll be close.
