The Jackson State Tigers and the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet in college basketball action from the Delmar Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

The Jackson State Tigers will try to snap a three-game losing skid after a 69-59 loss to Mississippi State last time out. Trace Young has 11.5 PPG and 5.4 RPG while Ken Evans Jr. has 11.8 PPG with 5.4 RPG and a team-high 3.8 APG to lead Jackson State in assists as the only other double-digit scorer for Jackson State so far this season. Romelle Mansel also has a team-high 6 RPG as well for the Tigers this season. As a team, Jackson State is averaging 67.4 PPG on 42.4% shooting from the field, 33.8% from three and 63.8% from the foul line this season.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will be out to build on their three-game win streak after a 77-70 win over Eastern Washington last time out. Kevin Obanor leads the Red Raiders in scoring with 15.2 PPG along with 6.2 RPG while De’Vion Harmon has 11.1 PPG with a team-high 3.6 APG to lead Texas Tech in assists this season. Daniel Batcho has 13 PPG with a team-high 8 RPG to lead the Red Raiders in rebounding while Pop Isaacs has 10.8 PPG with 2.8 APG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Texas Tech up to this point in the year. As a team, Texas Tech is averaging 73 PPG on 47.3% shooting from the field, 32.5% from three and 73.2% from the foul line this season.

Jackson State is 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 neutral site games. Texas Tech is 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games following a win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but the problem here is that Jackson State has had issues covering these big numbers more often than not this season. Sure, the Tigers have the win over SMU, but that’s a down SMU team this season and they’ve gotten rung up by better teams like TCU, Indiana and Michigan to name a few. I just think that Texas Tech will end up being too much here so give me the Red Raiders laying the points.
