The Coppin State Eagles and the Towson Tigers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from SECU Arena. Coppin State is 3-3 on the year and lost to Marshall in their last outing. As for Towson, they’re 4-0 following a win over UNC Greensboro on Thursday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Coppin State lost their first two outings this year, 82-59 versus Charlotte and 99-89 against Georgetown. The Eagles would bounce back with three straight wins versus Mount St. Mary’s, Navy and Tennessee Tech.

In Saturday’s Marshall matchup, the Eagles faced a 47-32 deficit by halftime. Coppin State didn’t make up any ground in the second and lost 86-67. Sam Sessoms led the team on 19 points with eight rebounds.

Over on the Towson side, their year began with a 67-62 win over Albany. The Tigers made it two in a row with a win 67-55 over UMass. Towson faced Penn in game three; that one was another tight game but still a win 80-74.

The Tigers matched up against UNC Greensboro in their last outing on Thursday. In that one Towson was down 33-20 going into the second half. The Tigers rallied from there for a 56-53 comeback win. Nicholas Timberlake led the way on 26 points.

PICK: I’m probably going to try Towson, but staying away. The Tigers had a pretty sketchy game in their last outing versus UNC Greensboro, but to their credit they pulled off the win. Towson shot just 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) from 3-point range and was out-rebounded 40-38. As for Coppin State, they had some nice performances during that three-game win streak but the Marshall game was pretty flat. I’m leaning Towson here, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Coppin State return to form and cover either.
