UNLV vs Hawaii 12/7/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Dollar Loan Center. Hawaii is 5-2 overall this year. The Warriors lost to Texas A&M-Commerce in their last game. As for UNLV, they’re 8-0 on the season and fresh off a win over San Diego. Hawaii lost to Yale in game three, but otherwise managed five wins in their first six outings. The victories were versus MS Valley State, Eastern Washington, Hawaii Pacific, Sacramento State and Texas State. 

In game seven versus Texas A&M-Commerce, Hawaii took another loss. The Warriors scored just 15 points in the first half on the way to a rough 53-51 result. Noel Coleman was the leading team scorer with 18 points.

Over on the UNLV side, it’s been a flawless run so far. The Rebels have taken eight straight wins over Southern U, Incarnate Word, Dayton, High Point, Southern Illinois, Minnesota, Life Pacific and San Diego. 

In the San Diego game on Saturday, the Rebels jumped out to a 49-28 edge at the break. UNLV scored 46 more points in the second for a 95-78 win. Leading team scorer Luis Rodriguez had 19 points, and Elijah Harkless had 17 points. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with UNLV here. The Rebels haven’t had a ton of trouble this year; their smallest margin of victory has been seven points. UNLV has scored pretty well also, with 71 or more points in five of eight games. That said, UNLV hasn’t quite faced elite competition just yet. As for Hawaii, they had a three-game run of 72 or more points going before that dud against Texas A&M-Commerce last week. I like the Warriors to hang around for a while here but I don’t think they’ll catch the Rebels.
