The Princeton Tigers and the VCU Rams meet Tuesday in NIT college basketball action from Siegel Center. Princeton is 23-6 so far. The Tigers lost to Yale in their last game. As for VCU, they’re sitting at 21-9 and coming off a loss to Richmond. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Princeton has had a great run this year, only losing consecutive games once all season. The Tigers went into the Ivy League Tournament with a nice seven-game win streak, then took out Cornell in tourney activity before a loss to Yale.

Matched up against Yale in the final on Sunday, the Tigers were down 25-32 by the break. Princeton hit a 39-34 run in the second but it wasn’t enough in a 66-64 loss. Tosan Evbuomwan led the team on 20 points with 11 rebounds in the defeat.

Over on the VCU side, their year started out a shaky 3-4 but the Rams quickly bounced back and righted the ship. VCU had a nice eight-game win streak going late in the year before a loss to Saint Louis. The Rams lost again to Richmond in the conference tournament.

Back on Friday in the Spiders matchup, the Rams trailed by eight points going into the second. VCU was outscored 35-38 in that half as well in a 75-64 loss. Tops in scoring was Vince Williams on 18 points and nine boards.

The Rams are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five at home and 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 overall. VCU is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 7-2 in Princeton’s last nine road games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Princeton. The Tigers were humming along very well going into the Ivy League Tournament with 69 or more points in 22 straight games. Princeton had a bad outing versus Yale in the championship, but I think they’l bounce back here.

As for VCU, they hit 71 or more points in seven of the eight games in their recent win streak. They’ve been at 65 or below in their last pair, however. Overall this is looking like a pretty good matchup but I think Princeton can power out a cover.
