VCU vs St. Bonaventure 3/1/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the VCU Rams meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Siegel Center. St. Bonaventure is 19-7 overall this year. The Bonnies beat Saint Joseph’s in their last game. As for VCU, they’re 20-7 this season and coming off a win over UMass. St. Bonaventure had a 3-3 stretch in December and a 2-4 run in January/February but outside of that they’ve been highly consistent this year. The Bonnies are riding a seven-game win streak right now; they took out Saint Joseph’s in their last matchup. 

In the Saturday game versus Saint Joseph’s, the Bonnies were down by one point by halftime. St. Bonaventure hit a 30-27 second-half run for a 54-52 comeback win. Jalen Adaway was the leading scorer on 14 points with seven rebounds.

Over on the VCU side, their year started at 3-4 overall, but they’ve only lost consecutive games once since then. The Rams have beaten Duquesne, Rhode Island, George Mason, Fordham, Richmond, George Mason and UMass in their last seven outings. 

Matched up against UMass on Saturday, the Rams had a 41-23 edge by the break. VCU scored 36 more points in the second on the way to a 77-62 win. KeShawn Curry was the top scorer on 18 points, four rebounds and four steals. 

The Rams are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six overall and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS win. The over is 7-3 in VCU’s last 10 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Bonnies are 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven overall. The under is 37-18-2 in St. Bonaventure’s last 57 road games.

PICK: I’m going to try St. Bonaventure here. The Bonnies barely eked out a victory in their last game, but that was a particularly close call during this seven-game win streak. St. Bonaventure has scored 68 or more points in six of those outings, so they’ve been pretty consistent offensively. 

The last time these teams met up back on January 14, the Bonnies posted a 73-53 win at home. VCU won’t go away quietly in this rematch, as they’ve been playing well over the last seven. Still, I like the Bonnies to power out a cover.
