Washington vs Cal Poly 12/13/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Cal Poly Mustangs and the Washington Huskies meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Cal Poly is currently 5-3 and coming off a win over Portland State. Cal Poly went 1-3 over their first four games with losses to San Francisco, Stanford and Mount St. Mary’s. Since then it’s been four straight wins over Idaho, Pacific, California Baptist and Portland State for the Mustangs. 

Back on Saturday versus Portland State, Cal Poly had a modest 35-31 edge at halftime. The Mustangs hit a 37-18 run in the second half and took the win 72-49. Leading team scorer Brantly Stevenson posted 20 points and five rebounds.

Over on the Washington side, their three losses have come to Cal Baptist, Oregon State and Gonzaga. Otherwise it’s been seven wins over Weber State, North Florida, Utah Tech, Fresno State, Saint Mary’s and Seattle. 

In their Friday game versus Gonzaga, the Huskies trailed 36-26 at the break. Washington was outscored 41-34 in the second half and limped to a 77-6 defeat. Keion Brooks led the way on 14 points with five rebounds.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Washington. The Huskies had a tough matchup versus Gonzaga in their last outing but they didn’t play terribly. Washington shot 40.4 percent from the field with 29 rebounds in that one—there wasn’t too much chance they’d win regardless, though. Washington hasn’t been an overwhelming offensive team this year; they’ve hit 65 or fewer points in four of their 10 outings. As for Cal Poly, they’ve got a few good scoring outings themselves this year but I don’t think they’ll keep the cover pace against Washington.
