Wichita State vs Longwood 12/10/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Longwood Lancers and the Wichita State Shockers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Charles Koch Arena. Longwood is 5-4 overall this season. The Lancers beat Delaware State in their last game. As for Wichita State, they’re sitting at 4-4 and coming off a loss to Kansas State. Longwood went 3-3 over their first six games this year, beating Pfeiffer, VMI and Fairleigh Dickinson in that time. The Lancers hit a 2-1 run after that with a loss to San Diego between wins over Mary Baldwin and Delaware State. 

In the Delaware State game last weekend, the Lancers had a 38-31 edge by the break. Longwood hit the gas in the second half with a 37-18 run and took it 75-49. DeShaun Wade led the team on 21 points with six boards. 

Over on the Wichita State side, they were 4-2 over their first six games. The victories in that stretch came courtesy of Central Arkansas, Richmond, Grand Canyon and Tarleton State. Since then it’s been losses to Missouri and Kansas State. 

Matched up against Kansas State last Saturday, Wichita State had a 32-29 edge by halftime. The Shockers limped through the second half with just 18 points and lost 55-50. Craig Porter topped the team on 11 points.

PICK: I might take a stab on Longwood here. The Lancers have had their ups and downs already this season, but overall they’re scoring pretty well in comparable matchups. Longwood has hit 68 or more points in seven of their last eight games. They’ll still give up pretty good points totals to quality offenses though, so if Wichita State is on point I expect this one to be close cover-wise. The Shockers have scored 83 or more in two of their last three; Longwood may have to push but I think they can get in there.
