The Penn Quakers and the Yale Bulldogs meet in college basketball action from the Lavietes Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Penn Quakers come into this one as the #3 seed, ending the year with a record of 12-15, including a 9-5 mark in conference play this season. Jordan Dingle leads the Quakers in scoring with 20.6 PPG along with 2.5 APG while Clark Slajchert has 11 PPG and Max Martz has 10.1 PPG and a team-high 5 RPG as well this season. Michael Moshkovitz also has 2.8 APG for Penn this season to lead the Quakers in assists. As a team, Penn is averaging 72.4 PPG on 44.8% shooting from the field, 33.6% from three and 73.1% from the foul line while allowing 75.8 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field and 34.4% from three this season.

The Yale Bulldogs come in as the #2 seed, finishing the year with an overall mark of 17-11 including an 11-3 record in Ivy League conference play this season. Azar Swain leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding with 18.9 PPG and 4.2 RPG while Jalen Gabbidon has 11.9 PPG with 3.4 RPG to make up the pair of double-digit scorers for Yale so far this season. Matthue Cotton also has 7.3 PPG for the Bulldogs up to this point in the year. As a team, Yale is averaging 72.8 PPG on 44.3% shooting from the field, 32.6% from three and 74.2% from the foul line while allowing 69.3 PPG on 42.4% shooting from the field and 30.4% from three this season.

Penn is 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Yale is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games as a favorite and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games as a favorite.

I get the case to be made for Yale here as the Bulldogs have had a history of representing the Ivy League at the Big Dance and being the top dog in the Ivy League. However, there looks to be a changing of the guard and Penn has been rock solid offensively this season. I just don’t see the Bulldogs being able to keep pace with Penn here, so give me the Quakers here.
