The Texas A&M Aggies and the Alabama Crimson Tide meet Sunday in SEC Tournament college basketball action from Bridgestone Arena. Texas A&M is currently 25-8 on the year. The Aggies took out Vanderbilt in tournament action Saturday. As for Alabama, they’re sitting at 28-5 overall this year after a tournament win over Missouri on Saturday. Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies managed a 17-7 run across their first 24 games this season. Texas A&M beat LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Alabama over a 6-1 stretch to finish off the regular season. Friday was a 67-61 win over Arkansas in the SEC Tournament.

In the tournament matchup Saturday versus Vanderbilt, Texas A&M jumped out to a 49-25 lead by halftime. The Aggies were outscored 50-38 from there but held on for the 87-75 win. Wade Taylor was the leading team scorer on 25 points and four assists.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Over on the Alabama side, they were a nice 21-3 after 24 outings this year. The Tide finished off the regular season with wins over Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas and Auburn again in their final seven outings, then beat Mississippi State 72-49 in the Friday tournament matchup.

Matched up against Missouri in tournament action on Saturday, the Tide went into the second half with a slim 31-29 edge. Alabama hit their stride on a 41-32 second half and won 72-61. Brandon Miller led the team on 20 points and 12 rebounds with four assists.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll likely stick with Alabama in this one. You could make a case either way, though. The Tide did a nice job against Missouri in their Saturday tournament game (despite coughing up 17 turnovers), shooting 49.1 percent from the field with a 44-28 rebounding edge and 18 team assists. Alabama is now 6-1 in their last seven games, scoring 72 or more points in each victory. Texas A&M could cause some major issues for the Tide here, though. These teams met last weekend at Reed Arena in a 67-61 Aggies victory. Texas A&M jumped out to a 32-22 halftime lead and rolled from there. Another tepid offensive outing from Alabama in this rematch would be disastrous, but I think the Tide will power it out. Should be a great way to finish off the tournament.
