The Stanford Cardinal and the Arizona Wildcats meet Thursday in Pac-12 Tournament college basketball action from T-Mobile Arena. Stanford is 14-18 this year. The Cardinal took out Utah in tournament activity on Wednesday. As for Arizona, they’re sitting at 25-6 overall this year and coming off a loss to UCLA on Saturday. Stanford Cardinal

Stanford managed a 10-14 run over their first 24 outings of the season. The Cardinal went a sketchy 3-4 to finish off the schedule, falling to UCLA, USC, Washington State and Oregon with wins over Arizona, Washington and Oregon State along the way.

On Wednesday in tournament activity versus Utah, Stanford went into the second half with a 34-27 edge. The Cardinal bagged another 39 points from there and took the win 73-62. Brandon Angel doubled up with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

Arizona Wildcats

Over on the Arizona side, they were a nice 21-3 after 24 games this year. The Wildcats managed a sketchy 4-3 run to finish off the regular season, beating California, Utah, Colorado and USC with losses to Stanford, Arizona State and UCLA.

In the UCLA game on Saturday, the Wildcats were within three points at 40-37 going into the second half. Arizona fell further behind on a 42-36 deficit from there and lost 82-73. Azuolas Tubelis posted a double-double in the defeat with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Arizona here. You could make a case either way, though. The Wildcats are just 3-2 in their last five games, but one of those losses was by just one point to a scrappy Arizona State team. The other was road loss to a stellar UCLA squad and understandable. The Wildcats have still been scoring well, with 73 or more points in 10 straight games. These teams last met back on February 11 at Maples Pavilion. That one turned into an 88-79 Stanford win, so the Cardinal could really cause some issues for Arizona. Stanford is 3-1 in their last four games, scoring 68 or more points in each of those outings. The Cardinal could really cause some trouble here if they’re on point, but I think Arizona will power one out. Should be a good matchup.
