California vs Oregon State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/22/23

Oregon State Beavers

Oregon State beat Tulsa, Florida A&M, NW Christian, Washington, Seattle, Green Bay and Denver in their first 14 games. The Beavers have since gone 0-5, falling to Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Stanford. 

In the Stanford game on Thursday, the Beavers were down 31-22 by the break. Oregon State didn’t get any closer on a 36-24 second-half deficit and lost 67-46. Glenn Taylor was the only team double-digit scorer with 11 points. 

California Golden Bears

Over on the California side, they won just one of their first 14 games, a 73-51 result versus TX-Arlington on December 21. The Bears are 2-3 since then with wins over Colorado and Stanford before losses to Washington State, Washington and Oregon. 

Matched up against Oregon on Wednesday, the Bears were down 34-21 going into the second half. California posted a 53-37 deficit from there and lost 87-58. ND Okafor was the only player in double-figures with 10 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to go with Oregon State. I’m probably staying away from this one, though; neither team is playing all that well right now. That said, the Beavers have had a couple of decent offensive outings during this six-game losing streak and the team should match up well here. California gives up a lot of points to opportunistic squads and if Oregon State gets off to a good start I can see them banging out the cover. Should be an interesting and competitive matchup at least.
