Robert Morris Colonials
Robert Morris began the season on a shaky run, going just 7-9 over the first 16 outings. The Colonials are 4-5 since then. The losses in that stretch have come versus Oakland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky and Wright State.
In the Wright State matchup on Saturday, the Colonials took a 41-34 deficit into the locker room. Robert Morris put up a 41-33 deficit in the second half and lost 82-67. Enoch Cheeks put up 21 points and Kahliel Spear doubled on 11 points and 11 boards.
Cleveland State Vikings
Over on the Cleveland State side, they made it through their first 16 games with a .500 record, going 8-8 overall. The Vikings are 6-3 since then with wins over Green Bay, IUPUI, Fort Wayne, Wright State, Fort Wayne again and IUPUI again.
Matched up against Oakland on Saturday, the Vikings were up 36-28 at the half but ended up having to go to overtime. Cleveland State would ultimately fall 92-89 after the extra period. Tristan Enaruna led the way with 25 points and eight rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stick with Cleveland State in this one. Also probably not touching it, though. The Vikings are coming off a tough loss to Oakland and they’ve now lost consecutive matchups following a three-game win streak. The good news is that Cleveland State is still scoring well with 67 or more points in five straight games. The last time these teams met up back on New Year’s Eve, Cleveland State powered out a 63-54 win at UPMC Events Center. I like the Vikings to repeat that feat with a cover in this rematch.
