Coastal Carolina vs South Alabama Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/21/23

The South Alabama Jaguars and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers meet Saturday in college basketball action from HTC Center. South Alabama just finished up a Thursday game versus Southern Miss. In that one the Jaguars lost by four points. As for Coastal Carolina, they played Appalachian State in their Thursday game. The Chanticleers ended up winning by nine points. South Alabama Jaguars 

South Alabama won six of their first 14 games, beating Mobile, Evansville, Robert Morris, Alabama A&M, Spring Hill and Jacksonville State. The Jaguars went 2-2 over the next four with wins over Arkansas State and James Madison. 

In the Thursday game versus Southern Miss, South Alabama had a 37-33 lead going into halftime. The Jaguars were outscored 43-35 from there and lost 76-72. Leading scorer Isaiah Moore put up 22 points with five rebounds. 

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

Over on the Coastal Carolina side, they lost to USC Upstate, Missouri, UNCW, Wofford, Charleston, GA Southern and App State in their first 14 games. The Chanticleers lost to Marshall and Georgia State over the next trio. 

Matched up against Appalachian State on Thursday, the Chanticleers scored 38 points in the first half, 38 more in the second and 17 in overtime during a 93-84 win. Essam Mostafa (20 points; 11 rebounds) and Antonio Daye (15 points; 10 rebounds) doubled up. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with Coastal Carolina. Also probably not going near this one. Neither team has been playing all that well lately; Coastal is just 2-4 in their last six, scoring more than 67 points only once. As for South Alabama, they’re 2-5 in their last seven with 63 points or fewer in five of those outings. I think Coastal will pull off the cover/win if they play well here, but it’s probably not one to mess with.
